Hi,

Eventually I managed to install it from Synaptic but had to kill XSP
first. As long as the XSP stuff is active, the install appears not to
work correctly.

By any chance do you mean mono-xsp_1.2.4-1.1ubuntu1?  I am doing an
upgrade to Gutsy and I received an error message that says:

"Could not install '/var/cache/apt/archives/mono-
xsp_1.2.4-1.1ubuntu1_all.deb'"

In the textview it says:

"subprocess pre-installation script returned error exit status 2"
