I might suffer the same problem: I tested today's Gutsy daily live cd and X
would not load. All I got after usplash loaded was a black screen.. There was
no way pressing Ctrl+Alt+F1 to get to a command prompt, the screen stayed
black. I don't know which driver Gutsy uses by default (fglrx or ati)?
Hardware: Acer Aspire laptop with Ati Mobility Radeon x700.
