Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kernel-source-2.6.11

Ubuntu 6.06.1, kernel 2.6.15-26-k7, ATI TV Wonder PCI (bt848)

When I boot my PC, I hear noise from speaker. SOurce of the noice is my
ATI TV Wonder PCI card. When I start TV application, noise is changed to
TV sound. When I exit TV application, TV card is muted, no noise
anymore.

I guess that a mute call in bttv driver is missing during TV catd
initilaisation. I think this problem was fixed in 2.4 kernel in the past
but the fix was not moved to 2.6 kernel tree.

ATI TV Wonder PCI ID:
0000:00:09.1 Multimedia controller: Brooktree Corporation Bt878 Audio Capture
(rev 11)
0000:00:09.1 0480: 109e:0878 (rev 11)

ATI TV Wonder PCI card uses chip msp3400 for audio control; my guess is
that a mute call to this chip is missing during card initialisation.

** Affects: kernel-source-2.6.11 (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Untriaged
         Status: Unconfirmed
