Thanks, that worked like a charm (and again sorry for late reply, was moving)! 
Finaly I can at least close the lid without having to hard-restart the machine.
Just one small question: I removed light locker and started using xscreensaver, 
which is fine, and with the fix you proposed the screen doesn't go black 
anymore. But none of the configuration options in xfce4-power-manager work 
anymore, no matter what I change. There just isn't any effect at all. Any ideas?
