To find out if this was a temporary glitch, can you please:
* Uninstall (purge) language-selector-common
* Install language-selector-common again
* Re-install kde-runtime
* Re-install language-selector-gnome
and let us know if that could be accomplished without errors.
Also, since you seem to use a KDE desktop, are you possibly using
Kubuntu? In that case you should not use language-selector-gnome.
