Public bug reported:
I followed the instructions in
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UtopicUpgrades/Kubuntu to upgrade
Kubuntu 14.04 to 14.10.
My upgrade is nearly complete, it's in "Cleaning up" and prompting me
Package changes
Remove obsolete packages
96 packages are going to be removed
However, KDE has jumped the gun and is already displaying its standard yellow
restart notification icon, with a notification bubble
System Notification Helper
A system restart is needed to complete the update process
Presumably the back-end dpkg changes have triggered this notification
even though the install script knows there's still work to do.
Expected behavior: somehow the cross-platform ubuntu-release-upgrader
can disable the desktop environment's restart support, or disable it.
(There's a similar bug that shortly after I started the upgrade, KDE
displayed both a Muon notification and a System notification telling me
that a system upgrade is available.)
