Public bug reported: GNOME HIG says: Do not include words like "GNOME", "X Window System", "GTK+" or other platform details in Application menu names. The user probably already knows what platform they are using, and if they don't, then application names are not the right place to inform them.
However gnome-font-viewer menu item name is "GNOME Font Viewer" it should be replaced with "Font Viewer". The relevant file is /usr/share/applications/gnome-font-viewer.desktop The relevant link from GNOME HIG is: http://developer.gnome.org/projects/gup/hig/2.0/desktop-integration.html#menu-item-names ** Affects: control-center Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #474742 http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=474742 ** Also affects: control-center via http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=474742 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown -- gnome-font-viewer menu item name is not HIG compliant https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/138173 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
