obviously ... no one tested this. thought Ubuntu was supposed to be the
"easy" linux desktop?

this is getting a little irritating ... if i gotta build bins from
source to fix RELEASED stuff that SHOULD ALREADY BE WORKING ... i'm just
gonna install Gentoo on my work desktop.

at least when i emerge (build) a new package, it either fails, or it
works, without the pre-conceived notion that i'm downloading a STABLE
package, that's BEEN TESTED, and going to work.
