Something has changed. The KDE apps like amarok no longer crash. They still output the same error messages, but it doesn't cause them to crash anymore. The only major changes since I started this thread is I've kept updating the distribution, and finally got the native NVIDIA drivers working. I wish I knew what the problem was, but I don't.
