I also have this problem, but after about 2 minutes, boot is completed
and after I log in, I have to start network-manager service because it
is closed, otherwise I won't be able to use network and if I don't start
it no network tray appears.

I upgraded from Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS to 14.10 yesterday and immediately
after the upgrade finished I rebooted and this problem appeared.
