I tested with the latest 3.13 kernel in trusty-proposed:

I can confirm that the "xen:balloon: Cannot add additional memory (-17)"
message do not occur with this kernel in AWS with an m3 class instance
and HVM virtualization.
This looks good to me - fix verified.
