Hi, I finally could upgrade to 14.10, following the link below,
specifically the first solution:

$ grep ERROR /var/log/dist-upgrade/main.log
$ sudo apt-get remove conflicting-package-1 conflicting-package-2 ...

Too bad that the failing calculation part of the upgrader gives no hint
about the problem that makes it fail.

http://askubuntu.com/questions/541246/unable-to-upgrade-
from-14-04-to-14-10-cannot-calculate-upgrades?answertab=votes#tab-top

I hope this helps others, too.
