The problem, according to the Ark maintainers, is that Kubuntu has changed the
library from infozip to libarchive, but has not made the required bugfix for
this to work properly:
"This is a bug in the Kubuntu packaging -- they've inherited a patch from
Debian that changes the backend used for zip archives, and their version does
not have the ability to modify zip files. Debian has since fixed it, but
Kubuntu has not caught up."
It would be really cool if this could be fixed, because it makes Kubuntu
look bad if new users produce a zipfile which won't open on proprietary
systems like Micorosoft Windows.
