Thanks to carlesa25's last post on this thread - https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/734098/linux/-boinc-ubuntu-nvidia-no-usable-gpus-found-/. .. I found that installing the nvidia-modprobe results in BOINC detecking GPUs again.
