Since my home folder is on another partition, I tried reinstalling 14.10
today over my "upgrade from 14.04 to 14.10" .

This did NOT fix the problem.

For me, the issue is exclusively with  network-manager-vpnc connections.
network-manager-openvpn connections have never exhibited this bug-
behavior for me.

I still have to logout, after each boot of my machine, in order for VPNC
to work through network-manager.

None of the fixes mentioned here have worked for me. I'm about to
downgrade to 14.04. Ubuntu doesn't seem to care very much about 14.10
bugs. This bug has plenty of heat, but it persists on without rescue.
