I get the same error messages on an install of Vivid but trying to run sudo apt-get dist-upgrade or trying to update the package lists in synaptic and that fails. So are we sure this is update manager or not the list of files but the work around from bug 1078355 will solve it so I think it is the same problem. Not quite sure what other packages for vivid should be marked as aeffected if any. But only on installed vivid systems.
