What happens if you initiate the shutdown sequence from the command
line, rather than with indicator-session?
$ dbus-send --print-reply --dest="org.gnome.Shell"
/org/gnome/SessionManager/EndSessionDialog
org.gnome.SessionManager.EndSessionDialog.Open uint32:2 uint32:0
