I've just looked back through my /var/log/kern.log and I've noticed something strange - I can't tell for certain which reboots are due to a system lockup (since /var/log/syslog has rotated away too much, so I can't look for rsyslogd shutting down to identify a clean reboot), but it looks very much as if all of the lockups have occurred shortly after midday.
