Christopher M. Penalver (penalvch), the touchpad only works when the
system is booted directly from the live dvds I have tried. These are
12.04.0 and 14.04.1. It doesn't work on any kernel when booted from the
hard drive.
Just to reiterate, the touchpad did work when purchased earlier this
year. It came preinstalled with 12.04.1 LTS and the latest kernel it
was working on was 3.5.0-54. The touchpad will not work now when booted
from 3.5.0-54.
Hence my comment on update #22 that it seemed more like an upgrade/
configuration issue. I started off on this route months ago and the
best "advice" seemed to be to rebuild the system from scratch. I
followed all the advice about raising bugs and how to determine what
category it should be and all this led me to believe that it was a
kernel issue. There seems to be a lot more information available now
regarding touchpad issues in general and it was this that led me to the
comments on #23 and #24.
Hope this helps
Regards
