Some more progress. 
I switched mouse off and on again and tried again

bluez-simple-agent hci0 F0:65:DD:66:29:97

RequestPinCode (/org/bluez/30956/hci0/dev_F0_65_DD_66_29_97)
Enter PIN Code:

I typed in: 0000

Release
New device (/org/bluez/30956/hci0/dev_F0_65_DD_66_29_97)

Now I typed

bluez-test-device trusted F0:65:DD:66:29:97 yes

This gave no message. So I typed:

bluez-test-input connect F0:65:DD:66:29:97
