Public bug reported: Without noticible cause the brightness of the screen of my laptop is no longer adjustable and stuck at the lowest level. Both the hotkey on my keyboard and the brightness submenu in the system settings no longer show any reaction to changes (i.e. key pressing and using the regulation bar in the menu).
The issue persists accross reboots which makes the main screen of my laptop unusable and it necessary to plug in an extra monitor! I had this issue on an unknown version of Ubuntu < 14.10 and the installation of `indicator-brightness` (https://launchpad.net /~indicator-brightness/+archive/ubuntu/ppa) and setting the brightness in it once to the lowest and then to the highest level fixed the issue (persistently accross reboots), but now it doesn't show any reaction neither (I adjusted the package soucres to point to `trusty` after `sudo add-apt-repository ppa:indicator-brightness/ppa` in order to be able to install in 14.10). When the issue occured `indicator-brightness` was not installed.
