I am surprised the importance of this bug is only "medium". A lot of important devices stopped working for us - contactless card readers (ACR120), USB scanners (Canon LIDE models)... Thankfully, kernel 3.16 really does fix the issue.
For us, the bug manifested in kernels 3.2, 3.11, 3.13 using Intel Haswell desktop and mobile chipsets (B85, H81, H87, C220) on both USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports using 32-bit or 64-bit Ubuntu 12.04 and 14.04. Kernel 3.16 fixes this on all mentioned ports, chipsets and OS versions. Honestly, thanks a lot to everyone here, and I hope more people will find this bug thread... and ideally that the fix will get backported to older kernels (especially 3.13 since it's the current Ubuntu LTS one). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1313981 Title: Kernel disabling serial port ttyS0 on boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1313981/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
