I don't think so. What I've forgotten to write in the original bug
report, is that running startx from the command line works. So it seems
that the kdm greeter must do something strange with X which causes the
crash.

I don't know if kdm tries to set the screen-resolution/refresh rate
using xrandr, but if that is the case it might explain why a wrong
setting of refresh rate in xorg.conf, can result in a crash in kdm.

However, I'll agree that its not an important bug :-)
