Public bug reported:

Hi,

I'm opening a new report against the kernel, as requested by Christopher
M. Penalver (penalvch) in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
/xserver-xorg-video-nouveau/+bug/1181902/comments/18

I'm including apport information collected via ssh from the vivid daily
liveCD dated 2014-12-22.

On a system with a GeForce 6150SE integrated GPU, the system becomes
mostly unresponsive shortly after logging in. It does not lock up
completely, but seems to only process pointer events or keystrokes once
every few seconds, and pings from another machine on the network start
returning in 3-5 seconds instead of a few ms.

The proprietary nvidia-304 driver works well on the same system.

This began in raring and happens on every subsequent release (and also
under precise, if a HWE stack from raring or later is installed); under
quantal it does not happen.

Booting with "nouveau.config=NvMSI=0" avoids the problem.

Based on the hardware, symptoms, kernel versions, and NvMSI=0
workaround, these upstream bugs might (or might not) be related:
