After updating Ubuntu 14.04 LTS on my Dell laptop, I get a black screen
with no mouse after login. The guest account half works (I can login and
get the orange ubuntu background, but no other icons. Admittedly, it
might not be a lightdm issue. I've tried stoping and restarting lightdm,
but to no avail. Also set the default display manager via sudo dpkg-
reconfigure lightdm, also didn't help
