Yes, unfortunately no change so far.

Simply try to scroll 10-20 pages as fast as your mouse wheel allows. 
Without thumbnail side-bar it scrolls absolutely smooth. When the side-bar is 
enabled though, every page is stuck loading until it's thumbnail is loaded. 

PS: I tried to file an upstream bug but the description above is so
generic that I got lost evey time I tried.
