Close or delete this bug - I have 64-bit versions of Ubuntu AND Win-8. But an OLD BIOS that does not support uEFI. While updating Grub thru Ubuntu, it somehow decided I would need uEFI, and installed it. Then allhell broke loose. I kept getting errors with every apt-get update, including BOOT-REPAIR, until I finally manged to remove the OS-Prober and the UEFI. Now, my main problem is that my Grub-update does not see my Win-8 boot anymore! (But I'm in no hurry to boot Win8 ) ;-) But that's another issue! (I think) Consider this as something other than a bug. Unless you advise otherwise.
