It appears that 3.16.0-28-generic fixes this problem so I will not do a full bisect. After successfully booting and decrypting my disks with 3.16.0-28-generic, I have just rebooted to 3.16.0-26-generic to confirm that the issue is still present there. I assume that this issue should now be closed. Thanks for your help!
