Wrong, it just happend on oracle jre 8: # JRE version: Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (8.0-b132) (build 1.8.0-b132) # Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (25.0-b70 mixed mode linux-x86 ) # Problematic frame: # C [libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0+0x239faf] gtk_tree_view_get_background_area+0x8f If have two similarly configured systems (Kubuntu 14.04.1, Eclipse running on java 8, using gtk2 with theme QtCurve, *not* oxygen-gtk). So far I've seen the crash only on one of the machines.
