I'm sorry to hear that. I was hoping for a solution or work-around for 14.10 because the complete sharing section is now unusable, but I guess that's the risk of going for a staging GNOME release :-/
For those running into the same problems: at least for Rygel (media sharing) you can enable it manually by installing and using rygel- preferences.
