Sorry, I have been busy for some time and in the meantime I used my workaround, which worked quite fine. Also, something has changed since then, as now I don't even have to use that workaround to get the wifi work as expected.
I would like to give you a hint of what was causing the issue and how it got fixed (at least for the moment), but I don't know.
