Root owning ~/.config is definitely the cause of the problem. At some point in the startup process, a file is written to /home/lubuntu/.config/ubuntu-system-settings/wizard-has-run
Apparently it is written by root, causing root to own the file. ** Attachment added: "output of ls -alR ~/.config" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lubuntu-software-center/+bug/1414366/+attachment/4305174/+files/ls-config.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1414366 Title: Lubuntu Software Center will not run on LiveCD.
