You are absolutely right, I left your message unanswered way too long, sorry.
I was running stock Ubuntu packages for NetworkManager, downloaded from the Ubuntu servers. Prior to the malfunction, I did install the following (Ubuntu) packages: - All '-dev' packages required to compile 'cheese 0.2.0' (only cheese-sources downloaded as tgz, from http://live.gnome.org/Cheese/Releases). - VMWare server (from 'http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu feisty-commercial main'). But as I really wanted to experiment further with a VPN, I reinstalled Ubuntu completely. That 'solved' the problem, but makes it close to impossible to reproduce. That's why I don't see a reason to reopen this, but it might be useful for someone experiencing the same problem in the future. -- 'Configure VPN...' does not appear in nm-applet menu https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/133735 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
