1. Boot
2. Do some work
3. Lower the lid to suspend: works
4. Lift the lid to resume
5. Do some work
6. Lower the lid to suspend: fails, taking a few seconds to light up the apple 
to show that it failed.
7. Lift the lid a bit and quickly lower it: suspends as it should.

So suspend can work, but there are issues. It's not like it works only
every other time: to make suspen work beyond the first time, one has to
do the fast lid up/down sequence.
