That script didn't seem to work for me. I hope your tests show the new ACPI driver to be stable with vesa but personally I'd be inclined to sacrifice the nvidia driver for vesa if it meant I got hibernate/suspend. Once that's working hopefully it then becomes a matter of getting nvidia to fix their driver.
