Public bug reported:

The Dell multimedia keyboard (vendor 413c, product 2010) has a couple of
multimedia keys and a volume knob (basically, a rotary controller that
is supposed to send keypresses when turned left or right).

The multimedia/Internet keys work perfectly out of the box. However, the
knob doesn't seem to do anything. I cannot even make it work in the
Keyboard Shortcuts applet, because no knob-related "keypresses" seem to
be received from the keyboard - the knob seems to be completely ignored.

The keyboard section in Xorg.conf is:

Section "InputDevice"
    Identifier "Generic Keyboard"
    Driver "kbd"
    Option "CoreKeyboard"
    Option "XkbRules" "xorg"
    Option "XkbModel" "pc105"
    Option "XkbLayout" "pl"
EndSection

I don't know if it's a problem with X11 itself, or the default X11
configuration in Ubuntu or with gnome-keybinding-properties. However,
KDE control panel exhibits the same problem, so perhaps it's not a bug
in gnome-keybinding-properties.
