Public bug reported:

I expected: to be able to adjust alternatives.
What happened: no effect for any operations.

In several places within the file main.py (i.e. for all actual actions), the
code executes update-alternatives using the path:
/usr/sbin/update-alternatives

If update-alternatives is installed elsewhere (e.g. /usr/bin, as on my system)
then the operation has no effect. No error message is generated.
That is, the software is totally useless in this situation.

[A possible fix could be to have the code find where update-alternatives
is located.]

Package installed: 0.13.5+nmu2ubuntu1

** Affects: galternatives (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
