Public bug reported:

My laptop (Lenovo Thinkpad x230, i5-3320M (Ivy Bridge) based) reboots
spontaneously shortly after shutdown.
This happens only if the system has been previously woken up from a suspend.

I am using TLP to optimize battery usage but I tried disabling it and it
does not change anything.

This happens with both linux-image-generic (3.13.0.45) and linux-image-
generic-lts-utopic (3.16.0.30), but it this is a fairly new problem,
introduced with the updates 1-3 weeks ago or so. I haven't found the
time to trace the exact last linux-image-generic that worked well, but
as said, the system has been working as expected until fairly recently.

Research of the subject on the internet reveals that the underlying cause is
spurious wakeups from the USB controller. Will link to a Linux kernel bug.

Adding xhci_hcd.quirks=262144 to the kernel command line seems to fix
the problem with no noticeable (so far) side effects.

The expected behaviour is that Ubuntu kernels should function properly without
need for manual workaround.
