For trusty, the debdiff is a bit bigger because it includes all upstream
fixes between 1.9.6 and 1.9.7.

They are itemized one by one in the upstream Git branch for 1.9.x:

The most critical of these fixes is:

Without the fix, some connections are incorrectly closed if there are
outstanding issues in the OpenSSL error queue.

This is therefore a compelling fix for any trusty user.
