This is still the case - see the bug duped here which has an mp4
For these videos the mediascanner fails to process them the first time
but they do show in the scope on a reboot (which seems a separate issue)
The following is reported in mediascanner and media-hub logs:
[Err, h264_dec_init] Fail to open Vdec Drv H264 instance! -11
[Err] Error code -10
[Err, h264_dec_deInit] Invalid input argument
[Err] Error code -1
Error when adding new file: Unable to discover file
/home/phablet/Videos/H264_500_AAC_128.3gp
The media-hub-server may or may not show up in top using 100% cpu but
the symptom is the same, the phone is alive but extremely sluggish and
appears frozen. Killing the server process restores normal conditions.
** Changed in: media-hub (Ubuntu)
Importance: High => Critical
** Also affects: canonical-devices-system-image
