Public bug reported:

Using Ubuntu 14.04.1 with gThumb 3.2.7 and EOG 3.10.2.

The problem is easy to reproduce: create a big image in GIMP (like 7000
× 10000 px), open it with gThumb or EOG -> instant crash of X.org and
back to the login screen.

Doesn't crash when opening big pictures in GIMP. Haven't tried other
viewers or image processing software.

Note that Nautilus can create the image thumbnail, it doesn't crash.

Not sure that the problem is really with gThumb as it happens with EOG
too. Might be an issue with a common component used by both. Or X.org.
Or even the graphic driver (using Mesa/RadeonSI 10.1.3 with an AMD
RadeonHD 7770).
