Given my very limited upload speed, that's actually a good idea. Chris, can you try putting https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bz7ZZcjnECHLMHp0V2h1OGtmWXc/view?usp=sharing into /lib/modules/3.17.0-focaltech-fix/kernel/drivers/input/mouse/ and reload the psmouse kernel module (or reboot)? That module has the contact area checks removed.
