But the openbox that actually gets packaged, and therefore the .desktop file as well, is 3.5.0. Here is the .deb on lauchpad: http://launchpadlibrarian.net/152891678/openbox_3.5.2-3_amd64.deb If you extract this, you will find the old .desktop and openbox 3.5.0 inside. This is the actual cause of bug 1185502 and bug 1255783.
