Might be after upgrade to network-manager-gnome 0.9.4.1-0ubuntu2.4, the item
Edit Connections... at the bottom of the network manager's menu is now
insensitive i.e. grayed out, therefore user cannot configure his/her
connections as indicated in

workaround : launch /usr/bin/nm-connection-editor to display the network
connections window and have access to the settings.
