Hey Scott, For me that sounds like a plan. I would still prefer to keep this bug open in case we find that it's necessary and then re-consider it once again. I'm only a little bit worried about the bits that need to keep changing related to hardware support, so components like android and others. The blanket FFe would certainly make things easier here. But it seems that for the next 1-2 weeks we'll anyway halt on normal feature development (besides hardware enablement) since we're aiming on getting vivid touch stability into a much better state.
