To workaround this bug.

Create a file named: /etc/modprobe.d/wifi_bug.conf

Add the following lines to the file:
options iwlmvm power_scheme=1
options iwlwifi bt_coex_active=N swcrypto=1 11n_disable=1

Set the file's ownership the same as other files in that folder.

Reboot.

Please note though that this fixes the issue, but prevents N mode from
working, so you are stick with B and G modes.

Otherwise I'm very disappointed that no one cares about this bug as I would be 
glad to provide all the information I'm able to to get this fixed.
The other thing that makes me very sad is that this was already working 
perfectly in the past with 12.04 and now it isn't.
This really sounds to me like a step backwards...
