Public bug reported: To reproduce log into a non lxde environment like openbox or i3 and set left handed mouse in lxinput it will switch the mouse buttons but only for this session. Then logout and log back in. The mouse will return to being a normal right handed mouse with primary click on left button and secondary on right button, Open lxinput and the checkbox for left handed will still be checked.

However if you exit the session with left handed mouse lxinput will show the checkbox but buttons will not be swapped. A workaround is unchecking the checkbox and then hitting ok and then opening lxinput again and clicking left handed will get you back for the rest of the session.
