I enabled swap successfully running:
$/etc/init.d/cryptdisks force-start
and
$ free -m
returned:
total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 992 901 91 58 52 378
-/+ buffers/cache: 470 522
Swap: 1012 5 1007
