Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: ubiquity-frontend-gtk
Hi I am using Gutsy Tribe 4 (but I think I saw Tribe 5 is the same issue):
When installing Ubuntu, the migration assistent is VERY confusing. Still at the
3rt time I install Ubuntu I still don't know what it does and how:
First you see the page "Migrate Documents and Settings" (screenshot 1)
The Text says:
"Select any accounts you would like to import and fill in the form below for
each one. The documents and settings for these accounts will be available
after the install completes.
If you do not wish to import any accounts, select nothing and go to the
next page."
At the lower part of the form I can fill in a user (including Full Name, Login
Name and Password) - so in my opinion it CREATES that user.
Then I click "Next".
Now I have to fill in a username/full name/password etc. again!? (screenshot 2)
It's simply confusing.
I would reccommend, If ubiquity, which it does, just creates one user, then let
me import other settings, but wipe that user form at the bottom of it.
Just let me select the user accounts I want to migrate, and don't give them
other names or passwords or similar.
Maybe I completely misunderstood the form, but then - why is it that
complicated?
