** Changed in: unity (Ubuntu Trusty)
Status: New => In Progress
** Changed in: unity (Ubuntu Trusty)
Importance: Undecided => High
** Changed in: unity (Ubuntu Trusty)
Assignee: (unassigned) => Stephen M. Webb (bregma)
** Description changed:
- Steps to reproduce :
- - launch an application in fullscreen (Firefox, Totem…)
- - hit the Super key to call the dash
+ [IMPACT]
- -> Unity 5.x: The dash is displayed, but it is click through…
- -> Unity 6.x: The dash is not displayed at all.
+ The Dash was rendered underneath fullscreen windows so it was invisible,
+ although it grabs keyboard input.
- In both cases, the cause of this bug is because the Unity Nux windows
- are not being stacked above the fullscreen window.
+ [TEST CASE]
- -----------------------------
- Desired resolution:
+ - Launch an application in fullscreen (Firefox, Totem).
+ - Hit the Super key to call the dash.
+ - The Dash should appear.
+ - Keyboard input should be directed to the Dash.
+ - Clicking anywhere on the full screen application should close the Dash.
- - If a window is fullscreen and the Dash is invoked, the Dash should be
- displayed on top of the full screen window.
+ [REGRESSION POTENTIAL]
- - Apps should remain full screen when the dash is opened
+ No known regression potential.
- - Any actions the user performs on top of the Dash area should be sent
- to the Dash, not the full screen application.
+ [OTHER INFO]
- - Clicking anywhere on the full screen application should close the Dash
+ The fix for Ubuntu 14.04 LTS was cherry picked from the Ubuntu "Vivid
+ Vervet" dev release where it has been in production use for some time
+ without apparent regression.
